These temps are so dangerous for anybody, physically fit and not so fit. It doesn't matter. You need to be safe out there. I've already mentioned a few things in an earlier post. I might be repeating myself but I'll be adding some more info as well. There's a few things to watch out for in this heat.
1. Heat Cramps, usually occurring when someone is exercising in the heat. The muscles spasm and it can be quite painful.
a. Rest & cool down some
b. Drink some sort of clear juice or electrolyte containing sport drink
c. Do some light ROM (range of motion) movements or stretching
d. Don't resume the exercising, for heaven's sake for a number of hours
e. Call a Dr. if the cramps don't subside
2. Heat Exhaustion, happens when the body is over-heated and can lead to heat stroke if not treated immediately. Symptoms include; sweating, cold & clammy skin, nausea, vomiting, headaches, fainting and weakness.
a. Stop activity immediately
b. Rest in a cool place with shade
c. Drink something
3. Heat Stroke, when over exposed to the heat and your body temperature reaches 104 degrees or more. This is severe and medical help is necessary. Symptoms can include; no sweat but skin is hot, irritability & confusion. If not treated quickly it can lead to brain damage, organ failure and death.
Even OSHA has a guidelines for working in these kinds of temperatures like rest periods out of the sun, under shade and plenty of fluids on hand.
