The first being a sense of closure in regards to my beautiful, missing Oreo, my cat. As most of you know, he's been missing for 5 weeks now. Well, last Tuesday evening there was a knock on my front door. There stood a man I didn't know standing there, He was holding a baggie and as he handed it to me he asked if it looked familiar. In the baggie was a blue collar. I said it was Oreo's. He'd put a paper with the streets where they had found it around and said he thought it looked as though it'd been there awhile. I told him how long Oreo'd been missing, he said he was sorry for my loss, I think I said "thank you." I honestly can't remember. I did close the door, took the collar out of the baggie, sat down on the couch and began to sob uncontrollably. This was the 1st time I cried since he disappeared. I guess I'd always held out hope he'd come home.
Putney & I did drive up & walk the area that the man had noted to look around, call out for Oreo and finally say our good-byes. It was tough but necessary for me.
I've shed some tears each day since. The outpouring of love & compassion from all of my friends has been amazing and deeply appreciated. I was blessed to have that silly cat, D.S.Oreo, in my life for 10 years. He will be very missed.
