A colleague posted a 7-day Life Gratitude Challenge on facebook, challenging some of us to follow suit. Not the best week for me to try to find some gratitude in my world, but then again, maybe it was.
I have 1 more day to go on this challenge and who knows what I'll find. I will say though, it's made me look beyond the petty people, places & things to find these but find 'em I did.
It's so easy to let the BS cloud over all the wonderful out there, like working with a sweet, delightful client, being able to dance like I used to, laugh with abandon with friends & family. It makes the wonderful moments that much more special in a crazy sort of way. I'll just pick myself up, dust myself off and move on. So there. Movin' on.
I threw in some leg work this past week to my workouts. I've added the seated leg press (I actually put some decent weight on the thing for the 1st time since my surgery), single-leg press, sumo squats w/weight and of course my side steps w/tubing.
Holy moley, did my butt hurt some the next day?!? Whew! It's all good though, right? Right. There's definitely some weakness in the R leg. But, the only way to gain that back is to work on it. It won't change just thinking about it.
I have finally shed another couple of lb's. I hadn't been on the scale for a few weeks so it was nice to see something happen correctly.
I did end the week by receiving a body wrap as a gift from my masseur, Sergio at U Love Massage. It began will some herbal oil, a body scrub then being wrapped in warm towels and a thermal blanket and let alone for 30 min. I do have to say that my R shoulder wasn't quite covered and got chilled but other than that, YUM! That was followed by a 60 min. massage that I did pay for. Boy, did I feel great after that. Terrific! I really love massages, if I could have 1 every day I think I would. But I don't have the time let alone the cash for that so once a month will have to do.
I'm also glad that the knot that was in my L shoulder appears to have dissipated and is no longer a painful issue.
Dance week is this coming week and I've scheduled 2 rehearsals for the Belly dance piece. These will be the 1st time we've all done the piece together and the recital is Thursday. Yikes1 It'll be great. Even if I have to be in it. As you well know, I don't like being in my work but with 2 people unable to be here, I had to step in. We'll see what happens. should be just fine.
The boys of the household are all doing great even though we've been having some intense weather. All are safe & sound. Rowdy did manage to collect a Jolla bud (commonly know as a jumping cactus) but I got it off of him without issue. Those things can attach themselves to you so easily. You only have to gently brush by & there you have it. It's awful if they burrow in but he has so much hanging fur it did get the chance. It was just hanging off of him.
Putney & Rowdy are both so pooped right now after our long walk, they just lie there panting away. These walks don't hurt me much either. My dance teacher has closed the studio for 2 weeks so no belly dance for me.
Well, off to clean up the backyard then the inside of the house today before I go see some friends who are back in the country for a moment. They've been teaching in South America for the last year & have re-up'd and heading back in a couple of days.
Keep movin', keep dancin', keep playing and don't sweat the small stuff.
Peace out.
