So much happens during our sleep cycle. Hormones complete their tasks, the body rests and re-charges. For many of us, getting enough sleep is difficult. Times are tougher, everything needs to be done yesterday, never enough time or money, work, family, fitness, when & where does it all end? It doesn't. So, take naps if necessary. Little power naps can help the body recover. The unfortunate thing is that you cannot make up for lost sleep. If it's lost it's lost. So try to give yourself the time you need for sleep. You'll be so much more ready for the thrills the days have in store for you.
It was also PI Day over the weekend. I love it there's a day for everything. If it'd been Pie Day, I would have baked a few of them but alas, wrong kind of pi!
Now we have St.Patricks Day. We know everyone becomes Irish for the day, but that doesn't need to be stupid. Please, be careful. Don't drink to oblivion and then try to drive. Actually, don't drink to oblivion period.
On the Putney front, I finally found the perfect food mixture for him. I discovered he enjoyed fried, ground turkey over boiled chicken mixed with an equal part of white rice and a large dollop of pumpkin (not pumpkin mix mind you) all mushed together and he eats it up with gusto.
He waits for me to make it up for him in the kitchen rather than having to be called in to eat. I can't tell you how happy that makes me. To watch him eat happily again. No, he's not cured but he's full, content and feeling pretty good. Still not in pain so on we go as if nothing is wrong. At least until he tells me otherwise.
I do believe I'm dropping more weight. It feels that way to me and, again to me, it appears that my body is changing a bit. Yay! For me.
Tonight I'll take another dance class and that'll feel great. Unfortunately, I have to miss class on Sat. but for a good reason. My nieces' baby shower.
This past week was the 13 year anniversary of arriving in Tucson and working at Canyon Ranch. I arrived on a Sunday and began working on Monday. I remember it well. It was the beginning of a lot of changes in my life both positive and negative but I've survived it all so far. Loving what I do has been a huge blessing for me. I've always loved teaching dance & fitness and have continued to learn & love my profession more & more every day. Yay for me!
Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of getting my new knee. I can't believe it's been a year already. Sadly, my mom doesn't remember I got 1. Wow. I'm doing so much more than I was towards the end of my original knee. Getting back my strength and stamina slowly but surely. Even my co-workers have noticed how much more I do each week.
Here's an ab exercise for ya to try; sit up on a bench, lift feet up so shins are parallel to the bench, holding a medicine ball, rotate ball (& torso) side to side keeping legs together. You'll be working the entire core to balance on the bench as well as working the internal/external obliques and the rest of the abdominal muscles. Ouch!
Keep dancin' folks and as always....PEACE!
