I did have dinner with G., my sis, on Sat. night. She prep'd steaks & brought 'em over, I made my famous (in my own mind of course) potaoe salad and a rediculously huge artichoke which we split. Delicious! I will, of course, put the recipie for my potatoe salad in the recipie section. I do have a "special" ingredient in it.
Memorial Day was yesterday. I'd like to send a huge hug & "Thank You!" to all of those who are, have served and their families. We owe you all everything and more if thats at all possible. I don't like war, I don't like our young, or old, people dying. I think there must be a better way than the senseless violence but I also know that sometimes you must fight to save more. So to those of you who boldly go to serve, you have my utmost respect. Please, tell a serviceman, woman or animal even, thank you.
A friend at work loved the last pie I made her and since I saw cherries in the store I decided to bake a cherry pie.
Have you found what calms you? If you know what it is, go do it. These days are already so hectic for most of us, we need to find something that gives us peace. My animals are another loving set of things that help to calm me. The unconditional love that they give, well Putney gives, Oreo sometimes gives but fairly often hisses and bats with too much of the mushy stuff, is so soothing and relaxing. They brought dogs to the hospital my mom was at during one of her many episodes and she loved it. Just to pet them and feel their heartbeat and the look of happiness, yes I said the look, is amazing. Meditation, yoga, aroma therapy, singing or chanting are some other ways people can focus on releasing bad ju-ju's and get to a peacful place. We can all use a way to be at peace. All of the running around, trying to make ends meet, take care of loved ones, clean one's house aghhhhhhhh! It can get so overwhelming, but if you can just find a moment, at least, to just focus on you, your self and settle things down in your mind, your body will follow.
Being relaxed is just as important as the exercising is. You can't sustain the "energizer bunny," mode forever. You'll just burn-out and your body will suffer the consequences too.
So take some time to "let go" of work, news and anything else that creates tension in you. Be at peace for a bit.
