Anyway, she's still sore as of yesterday from it especially in her hips (butt). I love it.
We've done squats, lunges, leg presses, single-leg squats on the TRX and more and this is really the 1st she's felt repercussions this long after. She has definitely gotten stronger and told me a few weeks ago that she was able to get up & down from the floor multiple times without issue now.
The 1st time I had her do some Burdenko bench work she had great difficulty getting her leg onto the bench with proper technique for the exercise, let alone hiking it up and over the bench. This time, she absolutely no difficulty at all hiking it up over in both directions, forward & backward.
What the heck is Burdenko? It's a form of sports therapy built on 6 platforms to improve efficiency of motion developed by Dr. Igor Burdenko.
Balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength and lastly speed. Developed around core stabilization, the moves look easy and are, if done without care. When done correctly, the moves force the deeper more intrinsic core muscles to also kick in to perform their job as well as the more superficial ones that we tend to care about. You know, the wonderful "6-pack."
Here's a tiny sampling of his work;
He was an athlete and a researcher in the Ukraine and Russia before immigrating to the USA.
After his father was shot 5 times during the WWI and couldn't walk anymore upon returning to their village, his dad had Igor take him to the pond and Igor watched in amazement as, in the water, his father was able to walk.
That was the 1st seed of what would become Burdenko Sports & Water Therapies. He has worked with many world class athletes and teams during his lofty career. Feel free to look him up, www.burdenko.com
I have the great privilege to be a Master Trainer in his work and love every bit of it. When I had my knee replaced, I did some of his work to get back to snuff, both in the water and on land. Good stuff Maynard.
NEW SUBJECT! I have been getting the new kitchen counter put in from the really fake granite look(?) coriane, however it's spelled, counter to american maple butcherblock. I've been sanding and oiling it for a week and now I do it once/week for a month. I'm so happy I can't see straight. My sis and I also put in new lights in the kitchen and I can actually see in there now. From 60 watts to 250 watts. Fabulous! Now I need to begin the new mosaic tile backsplash. It'll be beautiful. I get so excited.
I just go in and stand there staring at it. So what? I've never had my own place to make my vision come to life before. The closest thing to that would be my choreography. Not bad, but you can't always get what you want.
What a minute, that line sounds familiar doesn't it? Hahahahah!
Well, gotta walk "the princess" and get ready to teach. Then, up to Phoenix for an aquatic exercise conference. Gotta keep educating myself too. Get to go to a Giants vs. Diamondbacks game too! I can't lose.
Peace out and keep dancing
